Defining Rustic & Industrial Style
This style focuses on a raw state, with exposed architectural elements, and visible interiors. Iconic details include exposed light bulbs, polished metal details, exposed beams and pipes, masculine colors, raw rough surfaces, aged furniture, rustic wooden floors, cast iron copper accents, cotton or linen material. The key is to create an illusion of an old exposed elements but staying polished and refined at the same time.
As previously mentioned décor styles range depending on your source some list 26 some list 4! Since Rustic compliments Industrial so well I combined them. The difference between Rustic and Industrial is just as you'd think. Industrial think warehouse, pipes, and metals. Rustic think recycled, lots of wood or stone, and refurbished. To give you a better sense, I've marked under the Inspirations Images, DIY, and Shop which is more Industrial, Rustic, or both.
First step to decorating is get inspired, let the fun begin! I like to create a board of inspiring images aka a "mood board".
